Readers object to syndicated column

Anti-racism is not a liberal or conservative value, but it should be an American value. Over the last few years misinformation has consumed social and mainstream media. Discerning fact from fiction and legitimate and illegitimate news sources has become an everyday challenge. Information is a commodity that is bought and sold, and small newspapers have struggled to compete with free online sources. Local journalists care about the community because they are a part of it and as such we hope they’d be more trustworthy. We hope they’d try to provide balanced reporting, unlike our ...

Top officials being coddled by media?

How much longer will the far left media let Biden, Harris and their lackey dogs go on lying to us? Like cosmic rays that bombard the atmosphere we get hammered with faux “facts” day after day. The salivating over these two and the major players in Congress (you know who they are) is sickening. Wikipedia says China coined the term lackey dog from Running Dog, a dog that chased after people whom they knew had something to eat in the hopes of getting a morsel. They changed it later to mean a person or even a group who sneaked information of the activities of local leaders or ...

Who is really behind the border crisis?

Mr. Clark Martin, in his letter to the editor on June 19, expressed frustration about the crisis and indescribable mess at the southern border, so much so that he would like to see the responsible person or persons arrested and tried at The Hague. Well, I have good news. The culprit has been identified along with several cohorts. He has been working from a distance and has never been to the border, but he issues orders on little sheets of paper and sends them to DHS, CBP, HHS (for the kiddies), ICE, INS, TSA, Coast Guard and others I can’t think of right now. The first ...

Border crisis is upsetting to reader

I personally think that someone needs to be held accountable for what’s going on at the southern border. Once they are found out, Republican or Democrat, they ought to be taken to the Hague and tried for crimes against humanity. With the opening of the border, one of the big promotions is the trafficking of children by opening the border. Using them in getting drugs into the states, using them for sex. Giving the idea to those in those quote, parents and others, of the Central American countries to give their kids a chance at a better life. Some of these kids are abused! ...

Driver grateful to honest stranger

I was shopping at WalMart May 7. I put my groceries in my car and as I sat down there was a note on my front seat. I had left my car window rolled down. The note said, “I hit your car.” The note writer left $100 to get it fixed. I took the car to Chris See’s garage and they did a wonderful job fixing it. Sir, I want to thank you for being honest and leaving the note and the money. There are still honest people in the world. You are one of them. Donna Cumberledge Elkins

Reader praises the ‘For the People Act’

With all due respect to our current Secretary of State, opposition to Senate Bill 1, the “For the People Act,” is a bit of a tempest in a teapot. The “For the People Act” is carefully thought-out, comprehensive legislation, designed to create clear guidelines and rules for elections and eliminate some of the corruption that has creeped into campaigns in recent years. Its provisions will strengthen our democracy, not weaken it. No piece of legislation is perfect, but S. 1 is sound. Recent expressions of concern about the bill, including from our hard-working and diligent ...
