A Covered Bridge Christmas Tree Project has begun
Trees on the Courthouse Square in downtown Philippi have begun to sprout festive decorations as community individuals, groups, and organizations decorate the trees. A few trees are still available for parties interested in adding Christmas joy to the community.
Anyone interested in securing a tree to decorate on the Courthouse Square or in the Blue & Gray Park may call Linda Menear at 304-457-3481 or reach her at MEANEAR134@msn.com.
The festive tree pictured above, decorated by Annie’s Smiles with red bulbs and candy canes, sits among a collection of vintage Christmas yard ornaments. This tree project is part of the efforts of the all-volunteer A Covered Bridge Christmas Committee.
Another project for this year’s Christmas celebration is the Selfie Challenge which features a selfie theme for the next four weeks. For the week of November 29, community members are invited to take a selfie with a snowman; for the week of December 6, the theme is Christmas trees; for the week of December 13, the theme is Santa Claus; for the week of December 20, the theme is family celebrations. Anyone interested should take a selfie with the theme item for the particular week and then submit photos in which participants are identified along with the themed item to ACoveredBridgeChristmas@gmail.com/
For further information, the Selfie Challenge information is posted on both the webpage CoveredBridgeChristmas.com and the Facebook page.
