Fugitive captured in Barbour County

Mayle

PHILIPPI — A fugitive from justice was captured at a residence in Barbour County Tuesday, officials said.

James Marklin Mayle, 65, is being held in Tygart Valley Regional Jail without bond.

Barbour County Sheriff Brett Carpenter said he shared information with the Mountain Region Drug Task Force on Tuesday that he had obtained during a “drug investigation” working alongside the United States Marshals Service.

Members of the Marshals Service and the Sheriff’s Office executed the arrest warrant for Mayle, at which time Carpenter “observed controlled substances in plain view,” according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.

After receiving the information, the Mountain Region Drug Task Force obtained a search warrant for the residence, the release states.

While searching the residence, officers found approximately 10 grams of heroin, 15 grams of methamphetamine, 78 grams of marijuana and a gram of fentanyl, along with digital scales and packaging materials, according to the release.

Mayle was wanted on a federal indictment regarding alleged methamphetamine-related activity, officials said.

Additional suspects and charges will be forthcoming, the release states.

Starting at $3.92/week.
