Trader sentenced to two to 10 years
PHILIPPI — A Barbour County man accused of sexual abuse has entered into a plea and was sentenced to two to 10 years in jail.
Larry Lee Trader Jr., 54, entered into a plea agreement on April 27, pleading guilty to two counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, a felony, according to a press release from the Barbour County Prosecutor’s office.
After Trader waived his right to a pre-sentence investigation, Barbour County Circuit Court Judge Thomas B. Hoxie sentenced Trader to not less than one nor more than five years on each count, for a total aggregate sentence of not less than two nor more than 10 years.
According to the release, Trader will be required to register as a sexual offender for the rest of his life, and he will be under Sexual Offender Extended Supervision for a period of 30 years.
During the April 27 hearing, Trader appeared in person with attorney Paul Gwaltney, the release states. Barbour County Prosecuting Attorney Andrew Phillips represented the State.
In October, Trader was indicted by the Barbour County Grand Jury on six counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, 12 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, or custodian, and four counts of distribution and display to a minor or obscene matter.
