Class A all-state squad set
Pendleton County places pair on second team
BECKLEY — Pendleton County seniors Bailey Thompson and Josh Alt have been selected to the Class A All-State second team as selected by the the West Virginia Sports Writers Association and released today.
Thompson, who was named captain of the second unit, and Alt helped lead the Wildcats to a runner-up finish in the state tournament.
Area players listed honorable mention included Tygarts Valley senior Josh Bright and junior Garrett Gibson, Tucker County senior Zack Colebank, Harman senior Clayson Knotts, Pendleton County senior Isaiah Gardiner and East Hardy senior Christian Dove.
Austin Ball of state champion Man was named captain of the first team.
The 6-foot-7 junior forward averaged 19.5 points per game as the Hillbillies captured their first title in school history.
Joining Ball on the first-team is the James Monroe duo of Eli Allen and Shad Sauvage, Greenbrier West’s Kaiden Pack, Tyler Consolidated’s Caleb Strode, Webster County’s Rye Gadd, Tug Valley’s Caleb May and Cameron’s Trevor Beresford.
