ELKINS — Barbour County tallied two touchdowns in the third quarter en route to a 16-0 win over Elkins Middle School Thursday evening in Mid-8 Conference action at EHS Field.
After a scoreless first half, BC took advantage of good field position on its initial drive of the second half as Konner Humphreys capped off a seven-play, 43-yard march with a 1-yard run with 3:54 left in the third quarter. Humphreys also ran in the conversion.
The visitors got on the board again on their next possession when Landyn Carpenter collected a pass from Robbie Jones on a second-and-20 play and raced 60 yards for the score. Humphreys added his second conversion run of the night to make it 16-0, with 1:08 remaining in the canto.
The Hornets’ best scoring opportunity of the first half was led by a 20-yard punt return by Randal Marks and the strong running of Devin Hulver that gave EMS the ball at the BC 21-yard line before the drive ended on downs.
Barbour County’s defense then locked down the remainder of the night.

Elkins (1-2, 1-2 Mid-8) remains home at 6:30 p.m. next Thursday to face Washington Irving for a league game.
Barbour County hosts Taylor County at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
