ELKINS — The Elkins High School golf team honored seniors Tanner Miller, Brooke Tallman and Thomas Nixon during Monday’s home finale at the Elks Golf Course in a Big 10 Conference triangular match with Grafton and North Marion.
Miller and Lucas D’Angelo each shot 45s to share low-medalist honors and lead the Tigers to a second-place finish with a team score of 195.
Danica Riggins had a 52, followed by Dylan Hinzman (53), Tallman (62) and Nixon (67).
“This is a great group of seniors,” Tigers coach Dave Baird said. “They have been part of the varsity team for the past three or four years.”
Grafton tallied a 190 to win the match and was led by Corbin Knotts’ 46. Aiden Sheme added a 47 and Dustin Keener a 48.
North Marion finished with a 216 and was paced by Sawyer Perkins with a 52.
Elkins will face Buckhannon-Upshur and Lewis County at 4 p.m. today in the Battle of Route 33 at Stonewall Resort in Roanoke.
“This (match) will help us prepare for the regional tournament, which will be held at Stonewall,” Baird said.
The Tigers travel to Bel Meadow on Thursday to face Lincoln, Grafton and Liberty before taking part in the Big 10 Championships Monday at Green Hills Country Club in Fairmont.
The Class AA Region 2 tournament is set for Sept. 26.
