Colts and Mountain Lions in playoff action on Friday night

The Inter-Mountain photos by Joey Kittle Philip Barbour is the 10th seed in the Class AA playoffs and will travel to No. 7 Mingo Central on Friday night. The Colts are in the postseason for the first time since 2017.

Tucker County finished the season with a perfect 10-0 record for the second time in school history. The Mountain Lions are the second seed in the Class A playoffs and entertain No. 15 Midland Trail on Friday night.

The Colts of coach Nick Mayle are the 10th seed in Class AA and venture to No. 7 Mingo Central (8-2) on Friday evening.

It will be the first meeting ever between the schools in football.

Philip Barbour enters the postseason with back-to-back impressive wins over triple-A opponent Preston and playoff bound Lincoln — the 16th seed in Class AA.

Big 10 Conference teams make up nearly half of the Class AA bracket as the Colts and Cougars are joined by top-seed North Marion, No. 2 Fairmont Senior, No. 8 East Fairmont and No. 11 Lewis County.

Tucker County is the second seed in Class A after finish with a perfect 10-0 record under coach A,J. Rapp.

The Mountain Lions will entertain No. 15 Midland Trail (5-5) at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at R.H. Armstrong Memorial Field at Class of 1984 Alumni Stadium.

Tucker County and Midland Trail met in the playoffs in 2018, with the Patriots taking a 14-2 victory.

The Mountain Lions’ explosive offense is averaging nearly 40 points per game.

East Hardy, meanwhile, is the 11th seed in Class A and travels to No. 6 St, Marys on Saturday afternoon.
