EHS girls capture MoHawk invite

Anger captures two events to lead Elkins boys to fifth

MORGANTOWN — The Elkins High School girls swim team captured first in the MoHawk Invitational held Saturday at the Mylan Park Aquatic Center.

The Lady Tigers racked up 257 points in the 13-team meet. Linsly (209), Morgantown (191), Parkersburg South (166.5) and Fairmont Senior (113) rounded out the top five, while Philip Barbour finished eighth with 63.5 points.

For Elkins, Emma Ujvagi was second in the 200-yard IM (2:27.52) and 100 breaststroke (1:14.10), Rachel Shryock second in the 500 freestyle (5:39.85) and third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.19), Lilly Anger third in the 50 freestyle (26.40) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:17.82), and Emily Hurst third in 100 backstroke (1:10.60),

In the relay events, Shryock, Ujvagi, Irons and Anger captured the 200 freestyle (1:45.46) and placed second in the 200 medley in a time of 2:00:45, with the team of Sophia Hornick, Raighan Carte, Leah Ours and Durst finishing fourth in the 400 freestyle (4:15.40).

Philip Barbour’s MacKenna Halfin was first in the 50 freestyle (26.11) and second in the 100 freestyle (59.04).

Isaac Anger captured the 200 freestyle (1:50.04) and 100 breaststroke (1:02.48) to lead the EHS boys to a fifth-place showing with 117.50 points. Parkersburg South (287) was first, followed by Morgantown (206), Linsly (180.50) and Musselman (157).

Philip Barbour (46) was ninth among the 11 teams competing.

The Tigers’ team of Brian Jones, Anger, Andres Masten and Ashton White placed second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.16) and third in the 200 medley relay (1:54.72)

The Colts’ Isaiah Starks was third in the 500 freestyle (5:52.78).

Elkins will host Fairmont Senior at 6:30 p.m. today.
