Elkins cruises past Liberty; Bulldogs fall

CLARKSBURG — Caleb McCauley surrendered just four hits in going all five innings as Elkins cruised to a 13-1 win over Liberty Friday night in Big 10 play.

McCauley struck out four and walked just one.

The Tigers gave McCauley all the run support he would need by plating six runs in the first inning.

Brayden Biller, Ethan Humphrey and Kenton Haddix had RBIs in the frame.

Brock Holland cracked an RBI double in the third and Humphrey an RBI single to extend the lead to 8-1.

Humphrey had three hits to pace Elkins.

Biller later added an RBI single in the fourth and Lincoln Scott an RBI sacrifice fly.

Biller finished with two hits on the night.

The Tigers (3-6) are slated to host Pendleton County at 6 p.m. Monday.

Trinity 9, TV 2

MILL CREEK — Will McPherson pitched four strong innings as Trinity Christian picked up a 9-2 win over Tygarts Valley on Friday night.

McPherson struck out six, while allowing two runs on six hits.

Ian Harris took the loss.

Austin Teter and Jaxon Drennen had two hits each for the Bulldogs, who dropped to 10-3 on the season and return to action Monday at Clay-Battelle.

McPherson also helped his cause with a pair of RBIS for the Warriors. Parker Hopkins and Ryan Parker added two hits each in the win.
