Tigers drop pair of games on Saturday
WEIRTON — Elkins dropped a pair of games to regional foes Weir and North Marion on Saturday.
The Tigers (1-6) fell to the host Red Riders, 11-1, and later to the Huskies by a score of 12-6.
Drew Hinzman and Dyer Barger collected hits against Weir.
Owen Stanley was saddled with the loss, allowing four runs on five hits in two innings of work.
Lucas McAllister went 3 for 4 with three RBIs for the Red Riders.
Stanley knocked in three runs on two hits in the loss to North Marion.
Five different pitchers saw action for Elkins in the loss.
Tyler Bland and Gavin Owens had two RBIs apiece for the Huskies.
The Tigers (1-6) are slated to host Robert C. Byrd at 6 p.m. today in the home opener.

B-U splits games
TENNERTON — The Buckhannon-Upshur softball team split a pair of games on Saturday.
The Lady Bucs fell to John Marshall, 10-1, and handed Preston an 8-0 setback.
Kynnedy Marple earned the win against Preston, allowing two hits and fanning seven seven in going all five innings.
Reagan Mason had two RBIs in the victory, while Madi Knabenshue had three hits and Marple helped her cause with a pair of safeties.
B-U (4-4) is scheduled to host Lincoln at 6 p.m. today.
