WVU men’s soccer releases 2026 schedule

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia men’s soccer’s path to a Sun Belt Conference championship and another NCAA tournament appearance has been revealed. The Mountaineers are slated to play 17 regular-season games, and 10 of them will be at home in Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The first game of the season is on the road at Charlotte on Thursday, Aug. 20, and will have its home opener on Aug. 24 against St. Bonaventure. WVU athletics drops 8 spots in Learfield Directors’ Cup final standings

MORGANTOWN — Despite a seemingly strong athletic season, West Virginia athletics had a worse performance in the Learfield Directors’ Cup standings. The Mountaineers finished 50th in the final standings for the 2025-26 year, which was eight spots down from last year’s rankings at 42. The Learfield Directors’ Cup standings are the rankings of all Division I athletic programs around the country based on national performance. FAIRMONT — The University of Charleston men’s soccer coach Daniel Smee and Fairmont State women’s acrobatics and tumbling coach Danielle Cutri has been named the 2025-26 Mountain East Conference Men’s and Women’s Sports Coaches of the Year, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. Smee, a six-time MEC Coach of the Year, led Charleston to its sixth straight NCAA Sweet Sixteen as the program finished with a record of 17-1-4.
