KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — JJ Wetherholt hit two home runs and had three RBIs as the St. Louis Cardinals avoided a series sweep with a 12-10 win over the Kansas City Royals on Sunday. Masyn Winn hit a three-run homer in the Cardinals’ five-run first inning and Iván Herrera hit a three-run home run in the fifth for a 12-7 lead. MORGANTOWN — For four seasons, Morgantown High School softball standout Madison Wisman has steadily climbed the mountain of high school softball in the state of West Virginia. As a freshman and sophomore, Wisman played a key role early in her career for the Mohigans. SOUTH CHARLESTON — Buckhannon-Upshur’s Kynnedy Marple has been tabbed to the Class AAAA all-state first team as the utility player. Marple, who was also the Big 10 Conference Player of the Year, batted .510 with a 1.478 OPS. The junior hit 22 XBH (12 doubles), scored 42 runs and drove in 41 more.
