MORGANTOWN — No. 4 West Virginia women’s basketball couldn’t play its signature post-win song, “Country Roads,” after it rolled No. 13 Miami (OH), 82-54. Lady Bucs fall in opener at MHS

MORGANTOWN — The Buckhannon-Upshur softball team fell to Morgantown, 16-1, to open the season on Friday. Zoey Burr had an RBI single in the first inning for the Lady Bucs. Burr, Becca Pastorius, Payton Brown and Kynnedy Marple each had a hit in the setback. B-U is slated to host Parkersburg South at noon and Grafton at 4 p.m. today.

Bulldogs get walk-off win in season debut

MILL CREEK — Tygarts Valley opened the season with a 7-6 walk-off win over Clay-Battelle on Friday evening. Jacob Wamsley’s RBI double in the fourth had treated the Bulldogs to a 6-5 lead. The Cee Bees pushed across an unearned run in the fifth to draw even. Adam Woods started the bottom of the seventh by drawing a walk for Tygarts Valley.
