B-U track teams sweep home meet

TENNERTON  — Host school Buckhannon-Upshur swept a six-team meet held Tuesday at Freal “Red” Crites Memorial Stadium.

The Lady Bucs had 153 points on the day to take the team title. University (97) was second, followed by Petersburg and Elkins with 89 points each, East Fairmont (73) and Tucker County (49).

Junior Sofia Triplett captured the 100-meter dash (13.35) and 400 (1:03.92) to lead the Elkins girls.

Other Lady Tigers placing first were Tiara Rowe in the 200 in a time of 27.24.

The team of Rowe, Anna Belan, Kaleigh Edwards and Triplett also teamed up to win two relay events. The foursome took the 4×100 in a time of 53.19 and the 4×200 with an effort of 1:51.61.

For the Lady Bucs, junior Kennedi Lewellyn captured the 300 hurdles in a time of 51.06, twin sister Makenzi Lewellyn took the pole vault with an effort of 8-0 and freshman Cameron Zuliani captured the discus with a toss of 105-04.50.

Zuliani, the Lewellyn sisters and Yami Cerna also teamed up to win the 4×400 relay in a time of 4:28.45.

Tucker County was led by freshman Kate Falls, who placed third in the 800 in a time of 2:50.38 and fellow freshman London Hood, who was third in the 300 hurdles (54.78).

Petersburg’s Jalyn Western captured the 100 hurdles in a time of 17.51 and the high jump (5-0). She was also part of the winning shuttle hurdle relay team with Sierra Arbaugh, Jessica Canoy and Reece Hedrick in a time of 1:11.74.

Hedrick also took the shot put with a throw of 32-08.

The B-U boys racked up 143 points to get past Tucker County (136) for the team title.

University (91) was third, followed by East Fairmont (83), Elkins (51) and Petersburg (42).

Taking firsts for the Bucs were Sam Walker in the 3,200 (2:14.79), Julius Hobbs in the pole vault (9-06) and Dash Davis in the discus (138-07).

Junior Mason Kimbleton captured the 100 in a time of 11.64 for the Tigers.

B-U also took the 4×100 relay (Davis, Cam Ervin, Joey Tomasula and Trenton Westfall) in a time of 46.66, the 4×200 (Tomasula, Westfall, Sterlin Thropp and Dakota Smith) with an effort of 1:38.09 and the 4×400 (Smith, Walker, Drew Griffith and Davis) in 3:47.58.

Placing first for Tucker County were Ben Callaway in the 110 hurdles (16.27), the shuttle hurdle relay (Corrick Ambrose, Callaway, Joseph Lewendowski and Raine McCauley) in a time of 1:04.66 and Will White in the high jump (5-10) and long jump (18-10.25)
