Battlers earn G-MAC split
PHILIPPI — The Alderson Broaddus baseball team dropped a 12-11 decision in the opener before scoring a 12-3 victory to earn a G-MAC split against Tiffin Saturday afternoon at Jack Funk Field.
Tyler Amedure led the offense for the Battlers in the lidlifter, going 4 for 4, smacking a homer, scoring four runs and driving in five runs.
Vincenzo Rauso and Tylyn James each picked up three hits for AB. Gordon Swiger took the loss on the mound for the Battlers.
In the nightcap, the AB offense continued to roll, belting 15 hits on their way to 12 runs.
The Battlers took advantage of several Tiffin miscues, along with a two-run single by Rauso and a Lane Casto RBI single to take a 3-0 lead after the second.
AB extended its lead to 7-0 with four more runs in the third. Brock Stewart delivered an RBI triple, while Aaron Saunders and Casto each drove home a run with singles.
Taylor Cook added a three-run homer in the sixth.
Rauso, Casto and James each notched three hits for the Battlers. Zach Salmon picked up the complete- game win, allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out 11.
