PHILIPPI — North Marion dented the Colts’ scoreboard with 5 runs in the top side of the third inning on Monday to take a 5-1 lead over Philip Barbour in Big 10 Conference play.

The Colts belted back with three runs in the bottom of the third, and used a pair of scores in the fourth to take a lasting 6-5 lead over the visiting Huskies for a regular season sweep over NMHS with a 12-7 verdict at the Colts’ Corral.

Philip Barbour recorded two more scores in the fourth, a run in the fifth, and insured the victory by pounding in five additional runs in the sixth frame.

Nick Hamrick took on the lion’s share of pitching 5 and 2/3 for the Colts to garner a no decision. He allowed 5 earned runs on 10 hits, struck out four, and walked three.

Will Knight started the game on the mound with an inning of work before putting the mask on to catch for the Colts.

Knight paced PB at the plate after going 3 of 4, including a 3-run homer in the third that pulled the Colts to within one run of a tie game. Knight finished with 4 RBIs altogether.

Hamrick produced at the dish as well with a two-bagger and 2 runs batted in. Notching an RBI each for PBHS were David Freeman, Austyn Fletcher and Alex Wilson.

Philip Barbour improved to 15-6, and is slated to host Tucker County (5-10) today at 5 p.m.
