CLARKSBURG — Alli Robinson broke her single-season home run record as the Buckhannon-Upshur softball team split a Big 10 Conference doubleheader against Robert C. Byrd on Tuesday.

Robinson cracked two homers on the day to give her 11 for the season. The West Virginia Wesleyan signee had a school-best nine round-trippers last spring.

Freshman Shelby McDaniels got the win in the Lady Bucs’ 20-3 victory, while RCB claimed a 7-6 win in the lidlifter.

B-U is now 11-5 overall and 4-2 in Big 10 games and is slated to visit Liberty at 5 p.m. today.

East Fairmont 10, Elkins 0, 3 innings

FAIRMONT  — Freshman Blair Nuzum tossed a three-inning one-hitter as East Fairmont claimed a 10-0 win over Elkins Tuesday in Big 10 Conference softball action.

Kaitlynn Stone had the lone hit for the Lady Tigers, who dropped to 6-8 on the season.

Dacey Arbogast took the loss for Elkins in 2 2/3 innings of work.

Hannah Rush and Tori Lambert each drove in two runs for the Lady Bees. Lambert and Kiera Bartholow had two hits apiece.

The Lady Tigers will return home at 5 p.m. today to face Tucker County.

Tucker County 15, TV 3, 3 innings

HUTTONSVILLE  — Tucker County claimed a 15-3 win over Tygarts Valley on Tuesday.

The Lady Mountain Lions led 10-1 after two innings and tacked on five more in the third as the game ended after the home-half of the frame due to the mercy rule.

Cheyenne Gooden had three RBIs for Tucker County, including a two-run single in the second inning. Kristen Hicks and Gracie Rapp also had two hits apiece, while Gracie Filler, Hailey Tuttle, Anna DiBacco and Aliyah Plum had one safety each.

Emily Ball cracked an RBI triple to plate Courtney Haddix in the first inning for the Lady Bulldogs.

Ball also launched a two-run home in the third.

Hicks earned the win on the mound, fanning four batters.

Both teams will be in action today as Tucker County visits Elkins at 6 p.m. and Tygarts Valley will remain home to face South Harrison at 5 p.m.
