Biden’s promise may be problematic

Sit up straight and absorb this, readers; I’m only going say it once. Well, this month anyway. I may have discovered why Big Bad Biden has trouble speaking and has to start his sentences over and sometimes his mouth moves but barely audible whisper-like sounds come out. Controversy over campaign practices

The West Virginia Code of Fair Campaign Practices states, “I shall not use or permit the use of character defamation, whispering campaigns, libel, slander, or scurrilous attacks on any candidate or his or her personal or family life.” Congressional candidate David McKinley must have overlooked that Code since he is violating every aspect of that statement and other parts of the Code in his campaign against Jefferson County’s Alex Mooney. I hope your readers caught Gov. Jim Justice’s State of the State address Thursday evening. It was positive, humorous and entertaining and an extremely pro-West Virginia speech! In some ways it reminded me of our former state Secretary of State, A. James Manchin (the uncle of our current U.S. Senator), who I served with at one time in the WV House of Delegates. Our Town, Inc. to continue projects

Our Town, Inc. has completed two of their downtown seasonal projects and we are looking forward to sharing our Sprout Into Spring: Tiptoe Through the Tulips event for March 2022. Thank you goes to Sue and Holt Chenoweth, who opened both their garden and tree farm to allow us to collect cornstalks and pine. Also, appreciation to Ann and Bob Baird, who joined us in cutting their own cornstalks for donation to the fall event. Why is solar power lagging behind?

Most states in America already have reimbursement systems in place that pay for up to 80 percent of the cost to install home solar systems. West Virginia is sadly not one of those states because of the low cost of our electricity. My bill runs on average $350 a month. I don’t know about you, but to me that is not an insubstantial amount. It’s time for our politicians to actually do something for their people instead of lining the pockets of the utility companies. The anniversary of Jan. 6 went about the way one would expect from a political media perspective: Democrats from Joe Biden on down spent the first anniversary of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot exposing themselves as cynical frauds.
