Philippi man among sweepstakes winners
CHARLESTON — Jason Moore of Philippi was one of the winners announced Tuesday during the seventh and final prize giveway of the “Do it for Babydog: Save a Life, Change your Life” Vaccination Sweepstakes.
Moore was named as one of the 25 State Park Weekend Getaway Winners announced Tuesday. Additional prizes announced include five lifetime hunting licenses, five lifetime fishing licenses, five custom hunting rifles and five custom hunting shotguns.
This was the seventh and final round of the sweepstakes, a COVID-19 vaccination incentive program for West Virginians.
Also on Tuesday, Gov. Jim Justice announced that Wally Board of Spencer was the lucky West Virginian whose name had been drawn as the winner of the biggest prize in the sweepstakes.
Justice presented Board with a ceremonial check for the grand prize of $1,588,000, making him the seventh and final winner of at least $1 million through the “Do it for Babydog” sweepstakes.
The prize amount of $1,588,000 was inspired by Justice’s “Beat 588…Bad” initiative; a push to vaccinate more West Virginians.
Board works at his family business, Board-Depue Realty, in Roane County.
On Tuesday Justice also presented the keys to a brand-new, custom-outfitted truck to two state residents.
Megan Landsberg of Vienna works as an adjunct professor of music at Marietta College in Ohio, but lives across the border in Vienna.
The other truck winner, Paul Swartz of Beckley, is a dietitian at Jackie Withrow Hospital in Beckley.
All West Virginians who had at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine were eligible to register for an opportunity to join the list of sweepstakes winners.
