Feed the City program to offer free Thanksgiving dinner

File photo Volunteers serve the public during the 2022 Feed the City free Thanksgiving meal. This year’s event is set for Nov. 23 at the Summit Church in Elkins.

ELKINS — The sixth annual Elkins Community Christmas Bazaar will offer opportunities for local residents looking to cross items off of their holiday shopping lists.

This year’s event, scheduled for Dec. 2 at the Phil Gainer Community Center, will feature a variety of items for sale, along with concessions, holiday cheer and a visit from Santa Claus himself.

“We are really looking forward to this year’s installment of the Elkins Community Christmas Bazaar,” Phil Gainer Community Center manager Chris Lee told The Inter-Mountain. “This annual event is something both our vendors and community members look forward to every year.

“It wouldn’t be what it is today without our vendors, especially the ones who come back year after year. You couldn’t find a more eclectic group of vendors. The variety of things they sell during the event is incredible, and the level of artistry from them is awesome.”

Woodwork, jewelry, candies, candles, maple syrup, clothing and many more items will be featured at the event, which is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

“The Bazaar is the perfect place to come and get into the Christmas spirit and get some shopping done,” Lee said. “We have over 9,000 square feet that will be filled with a variety of different items.”

The PGCC is partnering with Randolph County Toys for Tots to put on this year’s event. All vendors are being asked to bring a new or unused toy donation to the Bazaar to benefit local children.

There will be no charge to enter the Bazaar, but attendees are encouraged to bring a toy to donate to Toys for Tots, which provides toys to more than 600 local youth.

The Randolph County Humane Society will be selling gifts at the event to benefit the Animal Shelter. The RCHS will also have several pets available for adoption.

The first-ever Elkins Community Christmas Bazaar was in 2016. The event was canceled in 2020 and 2021 because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Photos with Santa Claus will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds from the event will go to the local Toys for Tots program. For more information, call the Phil Gainer Community Center at 304-591-1410.

Starting at $3.92/week.
