Early run sparks Cougars to 63-53 Big 10 road victory

PHILIPPI — Lincoln jumped out early and never trailed in handing Philip Barbour a 63-53 setback in Big Conference action on Friday night.
After bringing an abundance of full- court pressure on defense to start the contest, the Cougars jumped out to a 13-0 lead to begin the first canto.
Lincoln also saw its biggest lead of the game at 22-6 later in the quarter.
Trimming the deficit, Philip Barbour tightened up a bit in the second period with a 14-8 win to cut the halftime deficit to 11 points, at 35-24.
The Colts only lost the third quarter (14-13) by one point and won the fourth frame, 16-14, falling by 10 at the final horn.
Gage Bibey and Josh Watson put in 10 points each for PB, while garnering three assists and three rebounds, respectively.
Will Knight was 6 of 6 at the line to help total eight points and four caroms.
Logan Ball put in seven points while dishing four assists and Jeremy Seibert accounted for five Colt points.
Lincoln also had two players in double figures as Zack Snyder netted a game-high 25 points at the Colts’ Corral.
Ryan Leep inked 15 points for the visitors.
Philip Barbour at 5-4 overall and 3-3 in league play is slated to be idle until next Friday when hosting Big 10 Conference foe Bridgeport.
Lincoln improved to 6-4 while moving to 3-1 in Big 10 games and will host Tucker County on Monday in Shinnston.
