ELKINS — The Elkins High School boys and girls tennis teams opened the season with wins over Trinity Christian on Saturday.
The Tigers claimed a 5-2 win and earned singles wins from No. 2 Aaron Elliott over Benaiah Lewis, 8-1; No. 3 Austin Harris over Landon Murdock, 8-0; and No. 4 Caleb McVicker over Kohen Smith, 8-0.
Austin Elliott-Aaron Elliott won in No. 1 doubles and Harris-McVicker in No. 2 doubles.
Lady Tigers earning victories in singles were No. 1 Macy Reckart over Kyndel Kisner, 8-1; No. 2 Natalie Sutton over Taylor Stephens, 8-0; No. 3 Miriam Fath over Abigail Fisher, 8-1; and No. 4 Macie Romero over Sadie Wyer, 8-1.
The No. 1 doubles team of Reckart-Romero, No. 2 of Sutton-Fath and No. 3 of Madeline Walls-Sophie Putnam also claimed wins.
Elkins hosted Liberty on Tuesday and will next visit Lincoln at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
