MGA competes in Rock Star invite held in Virginia
ELKINS — Mountain Gymnastics Academy competed at the Rock Star Gymnastics Invitational held in Christiansburg, Virginia, last weekend.
MGA’s Xcel Silver Team had an exceptional meet with several gymnasts taking home top honors. Rory High of Harman placed first in both vault and uneven bars while coming in third in the all-around in her age division. Serenity Shipley-Tackett of Belington placed first on floor and also took third in the all-around. Gabby Garner of Beverly and L Raschella of Buckhannon came in first and second, respectively, in their age groups on vault, with Garner also taking second on floor. Addie Grubb of Buckhannon placed first on floor.
In the Xcel Platinum division, Allison Judy of Bowden placed second on uneven bars, Emily Tesar of Elkins came in second on vault and Mady Hurst of Elkins came in second on floor.
Xcel Golds’ Acelynn Harris of Philippi and Hailey Bremigan of Belington both came in second on floor in their age groups.
Xcel Bronze gymnast Ava McBee of Coalton brought home a second-place medal on beam.
Level 8 gymnast Channing Gillum of Elkins placed second on vault and third in the all-around, while Lily Hayes of Elkins placed second on vault.
When asked about MGA’s performance so far in the season, Coach Gail responded, “I’m so proud of our gymnasts as they compete against some very large and accomplished gyms. Our girls are doing great, and other gyms are noticing. The girls are learning that hard work always pays off.”
