Mountaineers set to battle Oklahoma State

MORGANTOWN — It may be somewhat uncanny how much the West Virginia men’s basketball team is a near-mirror image of Oklahoma State. For 14 years now, the Mountaineers have been a member of the Big 12. They’ve battled it out 26 times with Oklahoma State, with both teams winning 13 times. They meet at 7 p.m. today, inside Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla., where the Cowboys have won three in a row against WVU. It’s even got to the point where the schools’ head coaches sound alike. “We never made it a game early. I thought we made it a game in the second half, ...

West Virginia football to rely on D-line transfers

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia’s defensive line had its ups and downs in 2025. Before the 2025 season started, defensive coordinator Zac Alley said a point of emphasis would be creating more disruption in the backfield. WVU women cruise past Oklahoma State in Big 12 tilt

MORGANTOWN — Mark Kellogg stopped short of calling No. 19 West Virginia’s 72-40 victory against Oklahoma State any type of statement win. “I don’t know if we would ever use the term ‘statement win’ ever,” the WVU head coach said. “I don’t know that would ever come out of my mouth.” Oklahoma State head coach Jacie Hoyt knew exactly what to call it. “There’s not a whole lot to say, that was pretty much a good old fashioned butt kicking,” she said. At the very least, the Mountaineers (22-6, 12-4 Big 12) made a major defensive statement on Saturday inside ...

WVU’s loss at TCU was another headscratcher

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia’s latest meltdown Saturday was another headscratcher. The Mountaineers held TCU to its lowest point total and its second-lowest shooting percentage of the season, and yet the Horned Frogs still finished the game on a 17-5 run over the final eight minutes for ...
