Clemson tight end commits to WVU

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia addressed the tight end need Sunday night in the transfer portal. Veteran Clemson tight end Josh Sapp has reportedly committed to the Mountaineers, according to On3. Sapp is the first tight end transfer for WVU this offseason. Sapp’s played a lot of college football at the Power Four level. He’s played for the Tigers for four years, redshirting his first season. In Year 2, Sapp had seven receptions for 60 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games. He didn’t have the biggest 2024 with just six catches for 63 yards, but he played 109 offensive snaps over ...

Cam Heyward’s play remains ageless at 36

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Cam Heyward can do the math. Then again, it’s not that hard. The longest-tenured defensive player in Pittsburgh Steelers history knows he has far more football behind him than he does in front of him. How much more is anybody’s guess, though if you watch him on any given snap — when the seven-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle’s motor appears to run just as hot at 36 as it did at 21 — it might be longer than you think. Still, Heyward learned long ago that opportunities like the one that arrives Monday night, when the AFC North champion Steelers (10-7) host ...

Colorado State punter transfers to WVU, along with pass rusher

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia has picked up a commitment from its first specialist of this transfer portal period. The Mountaineers also had a defensive end commit shortly after. Colorado State punter Bryan Hansen announced his commitment to WVU on social media. A few minutes later, Western Kentucky pass rusher Harper Holloman announced his commitment in the same way. Hansen walked on to the Rams in 2022 and made one appearance on one snap. He redshirted and handled most of the kickoff duties his redshirt freshman season. Out of 45 kickoffs, 27 of them were for touchbacks. In 2024, ...

Bulldogs edge Irish on a late Woods’ putback

CLARKSBURG — Adam Woods’ putback with five seconds left lifted Tygarts Valley to a 48-47 win over Notre Dame on Friday night. Woods finished with 15 points on the night. The Irish had an opportunity at game’s end for the win but a shot at the buzzer was off the mark. Senior Jacob Wamsley paced the Bulldogs with 17 points. Notre Dame led 23-19 at halftime but the Bulldogs held a 16-12 scoring edge to go in front at 35-33. Tygarts Valley (3-4) will host regional foe Pendleton County at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday for a make-up contest. Isaiah Garner had 14 points and JoJo ...
