FALL FEST: The city of Buckhannon will host the inaugural Fall Fest daily through Saturday. Activities will include tractor rides, a carnival, pumpkins and apples for sale, a 5K run, apple butter making demonstration, children’s activities and a square dance. CAMERA CLUB: Buckhannon Upshur Camera Club will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Upshur Senior Center. Speaker will be Janice Miller of Greene County, Pennsylvania, who will share tips and ideas for still-life photography. New members and guests are always welcome.

FALL WOMEN’S CONFERENCE: Jubilee Outreach Ministries will host its annual Fall Women’s Conference Friday at the Mill Creek Senior Center. Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. with services beginning at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Dr. Rebecca Polis of Fairmont, an anointed speaker and teacher of the word. RCARSE MEETING: Randolph County Association of Retired School Employees will meet at noon Friday at Tyrand Parish. The menu will be a turkey and dressing dinner. MINI-WELLNESS FAIR: Davis & Elkins College Sport Science Department will host a free Mini-Wellness Fair as part of Homecoming Weekend from noon to 2 p.m. Friday in The McDonnell Center on the College campus. The event is open to the public.

CONVOCATION: Davis & Elkins College will host the annual Founders’ Day and Open Convocation at 3 p.m. Friday in Myles Center for the Arts Harper-McNeeley Auditorium. The event will honor students for their academic achievements, Faculty Emeritus Dr. Gloria Payne and alumni award recipients Distinguished Alumnus Richard C. Seybolt, Tower Award Robin White Rybczynski, Outstanding Young Alumna Kathryn R. Owsianiecki Hartmann, and Senators Community Service Award Peter Ullman. A reception will follow.

ANTIQUE TRACTOR AND FARM EQUIPMENT SHOW: An antique tractor and farm equipment show will be from 5-10 p.m. Saturday in conjunction with Buckhannon Fall Fest on Main Street in Buckhannon. BUCKWHEAT BREAKFAST: Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church will kick of the Forest Festival with a buckwheat breakfast from 7-11 a.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall of the church.

RAMP DINNER AND CAKE WALK: Ellamore Recreation Center will host a ramp dinner beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday. The menu will consist of cooked ramps (while they last), ham, brown or white beans, fried potatoes, cornbread, dessert and drink. The cake walk will begin at 7 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring an item for the cake walk.

FREE PRESENTATION: Davis & Elkins College will host international peacemaker Ebun James-DeKam, general secretary of the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone, for a presentation at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Eshelman Science Center, room 400. Presented by the Davis & Elkins College Morrison-Novakovic Center for Faith and Public Policy, the event is free and open to the public.

DEDICATION: Davis & Elkins College will host a dedication of the Reckling Collection at 1 p.m. Saturday at The Stirrup Galley in Myles Center for the Arts on the College campus. The event is free, and The Stirrup Gallery will remain open for tours until 4 p.m.

MAGIC OF AUTUMN: The Mountain State Forest Festival Magic of Autumn, featuring illusionist Joshua Jordan, will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Myles Center for the Arts Harper-McNeeley Auditorium on the campus of Davis & Elkins College.

HERB ASSOCIATION FALL CONFERENCE: West Virginia Herb Association’s Fall Conference featuring many renowned herbalist teachers will be Saturday and Sunday at Jackson’s Mill. Workshops will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to noon Sunday. The workshops are open to the public. There is an admission fee. Learn to make your own cordials, tinctures, salves and tonics.

TASTE OF THE ARTS: Upshur Arts Alliance Inc. will host Taste of The Arts Saturday at the Mountain View Event Center, 3 Billingsley Drive in Buckhannon. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for viewing, cocktails, hors d’ oeuvres and entertainment. A live auction will follow. There will be basket raffles, 50/50 drawings, desserts and more. FLOOD RELIEF WALK: Upshur Parish House, West Virginia Wesleyan College Community Engagement and area churches will sponsor a flood relief walk Sunday at Jawbone Park. Registration will begin at 2 p.m., and the walk begins at 2:30 p.m. Walkers collect donations and sponsors prior to event. Half of funds support West Virginia Flood Relief and half go to hurricane relief. All are welcome. Checks can be made payable to Upshur Parish House. For more information, call 304-472-4978.

USED BOOK SALE: Friends of the Elkins-Randolph County Public Library will host a used book sale in October. Donations of gently used books can be taken to the library during regular hours

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT: Valley Head Public Library will host Family Movie Night at 6 p.m. Monday. This month’s feature is “Sing.”

12-HOUR BASEMENT SALE: First United Methodist Church, South Florida Street in Buckhannon will host a 12-hour basement sale from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Grab bags will be available from 7-8 p.m. Proceeds benefit mission projects of the United Methodist Women.

PURPLE MAJESTIES: The Red Hat Purple Majesties will host its monthly luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 9 at Graceland Inn and Conference Center on the Campus of Davis & Elkins College. LIBRARY CLOSURE: Elkins-Randolph County Public Library will close Thursday through Oct. 7 for the Mountain State Forest Festival. The library will reopen with its regular hours Oct. 9. Fine-free Friday will be Oct. 13.

2017 DIECAST & TOY SHOW: Mountaineer Hot Wheels Club will host a Diecast and toy show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 7 at Valley Worlds of Fun at Fairmont. There will be a large collection of Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Redlines, Treasure Hunts, Blackwalls, Johnny Lightning and more. There is an admission charge. INFORMATION MEETINGS: Randolph County Community Health Team will host a series of meetings to discuss services and programs available for vulnerable adults and seniors. LOG CABIN QUILTERS’ GUILD: Log Cabin Quilters’ Guild will meet at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 12 at Elkins Sewing Center.

REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE: A consumer representative from the Attorney General’s Office will conduct public events throughout the north central counties. The office representative will educate consumers on the latest scams in their area, provide tips on how to guard their personal information and answer questions about consumer protection settlements. AUTUMN CCC HONORS JUBILEE: The annual Autumn Civilian Conservation Corps Honors Jubilee and Luncheon will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 21 at Quiet Dell United Methodist Church. RSVP by Oct. 14.

FALL FESTIVAL: Tennerton United Methodist Church will host its 21st annual Fall Festival from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 14. There will be homemade apple butter, baked goods, children’s games, hot dogs and trash ‘n treasures. Proceeds will benefit church projects.

FLEA MARKET: Harman Senior Center will host a flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 14. Tables will be available outside and inside. All proceeds will benefit the center.

BENEFIT PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Fred Brooks Garden Club will host a benefit pancake breakfast from 8-10 a.m. Oct. 14 at C.J. Maggie’s, 16 E. Main St. in Buckhannon. The menu will consist of two pancakes, two sausage links, orange juice or coffee. All proceeds go to fund the non-profit club’s missions. Tickets may be purchased from any Garden Club member or at the door.

QUILT WORKSHOP: The West Virginia Association of Museums in coordination with the Beverly Heritage Center will host a quilt workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Beverly Heritage Center. Workshop leaders Fawn Valentine and Toni Ogden will demonstrate their methods for discovering what these pieced or woven textiles can tell us. Participants are asked to bring a quilt or a woven coverlet and their questions. Registration is required for this workshop, and there is a registration fee. WVDDC LUNCHEON: The West Virginia Desk and Derrick Club will host its 11th annual Industry Appreciation Luncheon in Charleston Oct. 18 on the 17th floor of the Chase Building in the conference room for Steptoe and Johnson. The group offers various levels of sponsorship support for this luncheon. Free seats will be given accordingly. HAUNTED WALK TRAIL: Stockert Youth Center and the city of Buckhannon will host a Haunted Walk Trail Oct. 28 in the Binky Poundstone Memorial River Walk. The time will be: 6-8 p.m. for the faint of heart and 8 p.m. to midnight for the hard-core fright freaks.

HALLOWEEN HUSTLE: Beverly Elementary School’s Halloween Hustle 5K run 3K walk will begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 28 at Camp Pioneer’s pavilions and ponds. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. There is a registration fee.
