CHARLESTON — The two delegates representing the 43rd District have been appointed to leadership positions within the West Virginia House of Delegates.

Delegate Bill Hartman (D-Randolph) was appointed by House Minority Leader Tim Miley (D-Harrison) to serve as the Minority Chair of the House Committee on Agriculture. This committee focuses on issues relating to the agriculture industry in our state.

“I am pleased that Delegate Bill Hartman will serve as the Minority Chair of the House Committee on Agriculture,” Miley stated. “He has been a strong, steady voice for agriculture in our state, and I look forward to working with him as the 84th Legislature gets underway.”

“I appreciate the faith and confidence that was placed in me,” Hartman stated. “I look forward to continuing to work to encourage growth in and provide support for our agriculture industry in West Virginia.”

Delegate Cody Thompson, a freshman member of the House of Delegates from Elkins, was appointed by the Minority Leader to serve as the Minority Vice Chair of the House Committee on Technology and Infrastructure.

This newly broadened committee will focus on issues relating to the transportation system and roadways here in West Virginia; the deployment, expansion, regulation and other matters related to public utility services and the internet; and all matters related to the use and expansion of technology in or by the state.

“Delegate Thompson will serve his constituents well as the Minority Vice Chair of the House Committee on Technology and Infrastructure,” Miley said. “As a teacher in Randolph County, I am sure that he sees the technology needs that face our state, especially in more rural areas. I believe that his voice will be valuable to this committee.”

“Strong infrastructure- both in terms of roadways and technology improvement and expansion- are critical to moving our state forward,” Thompson said. “I look forward to serving in this role and working for the people of my district and the State of West Virginia.”
