MSFF Night Golf Tournament slated
ELKINS — As part of its 83rd celebration, the Mountain State Forest Festival will soon be hosting a popular event, the Night Golf Tournament.
MSFF Assistant Director Zach Elbon said he encourages golfers from around the area to take part in this year’s event, to be hosted on July 13 at the Elks Country Club Golf Course.
“There will be plenty of opportunities to take something home from this event thanks to local businesses that have donated,” he said.
Approximately $3,000 in prizes will be awarded throughout the tournament including gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses as well as equipment and passes to golf courses across West Virginia. Prizes will be awarded for longest putt, closest to the pin, longest drive and more.
The annual event will also feature a “ball drop” by Signature Helicopter, according to Elbon.
“You can purchase a ticket, either one for $10 or three for $20, and then we will drop those from the helicopter and the closest ball to the pin has a number and that person wins,” he said.
The two-person team scramble will begin with registration at 3 p.m. and a shotgun start at 4 p.m. Participants who preregister prior to the day of the event will be charged $180, while the fee for registration the day of the event will be $200.
The Elks Club will be catering a steak dinner as part of the tournament.
