Senators hold off ’Toppers
WEST LIBERTY – Davis & Elkins netted three goals in the first half to hold off West Liberty, 3-2, Sunday in Mountain East Conference men’s soccer play.
The Senators (5-6, 4-6 MEC) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Matteo Ghezzi in the 14th minute.
A minute later, Markus Just scored the first of his two goals to extend the lead to 2-0. Just also found the back on the net with just two seconds remaining in the first half.
The Hillltoppers (1-11-1, 1-9-1) picked a score off a penalty kick and a goal from Timothe Tranavan with :45 left in the match to end the scoring.
Everton Carvalho had three saves in goal for D&E, which will host Concord at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for a league contest.
Wesleyan 2, Concord 1
ATHENS — West Virginia Wesleyan claimed a 2-1 win over Concord Sunday in MEC men’s soccer play.
Nika Monaselidze’s goal in the 86th minute was the game winner for the Bobcats, who also received a score from Nugzar Baraia in the first half.
Wesleyan (7-4-1, 6-3-0 MEC) will entertain Wheeling at 7 p.m. Wednesday in MEC play.
Findlay 4, AB 2
PHILIPPI – Findlay erupted for four goals in the second half to rally for a 4-2 win over Alderson Broaddus Saturday in G-MAC play at Multi-Sport Performance Stadium.
Zvi Ferrari and Yannick Koffi scored first-half goals for the Battlers (5-7-1, 4-5-1 G-MAC).
Ala Ramadan earned the assist on Koffi’s score.
But the Oilers (8-4-1, 5-4-1) netted a pair of goals from Josh Hales and one apiece from Peyton Trask and Josh Dickinson in the second half to earn the win.
AB will remain home at 3 p.m. today to battle Daemen College (N.Y.) for a non-conference contest.
