ELKINS — Quarterback Ian Donnen had four short touchdown runs and Buckhannon-Upshur capitalized on early miscues by Elkins in claiming a 33-6 victory Friday night at EHS Field in the 99th meeting between the schools.
The Tigers fumbled on the game’s first play from scrimmage, resulting in a field goal by Cameron Zuliani as the Bucs took a 3-0 lead.
B-U took advantage of another short field on its next possession as Donnen scored on a 1-yard run to make it 9-0 after the fake on the conversion kick failed.
On the ensuing kickoff, Javier Rosario gave the hosts a spark with a return to the Buccaneer 45-yard line.
Strong runs by Tommy Williams, Rosario and Nick Bowers moved the ball to the 17. However, the drive stalled and a field-goal attempt was wide right.

Donnen’s second score of the night — this one from four yards out with 4:02 left in the first half — extended the lead to 15-0 after the conversion kick was blocked.
A fumble recovery by Luke Yardley allowed the Bucs to strike again with :39 left in the second quarter as Donnen plowed in from a yard out and Zuliani tacked on the conversion kick, setting the score at 22-0 at halftime.
A 3-yard run by Donnen with 6 minutes left in the third was answered by Elkins when Bowers scored from seven yards out in the early stages of the final quarter.
B-U picked up another FG from Zuliani and a safety to finish the scoring.
Senior Sterlin Thropp had 90 yards receiving, including a 45-yard reception to set up a first-half TD for the Bucs, who ended the season 3-7.
Williams, one of three senior players honored on the night for EHS, along with Lane Blake and Michael McCauley, had 47 yards on the ground.
The Tigers concluded the campaign with an 0-10 mark.
