CHARLESTON — The Elkins Mat Club recently took part in the West Virginia Youth Wrestling State Championships.

The club had 11 participants, with three finishing in the top eight.

Lyra Nazelrod took first place for the girls 9-U, 69-79-pound division, while Greyson Isner was fifth in the 4-U, 50-pound division and Isaac Workman seventh in the middle school, 190-pound division.

The club had multiple state qualifiers during regional competition held at Lewis County.

They included first-place finishers: Alex Thompson (6-U, 60 pounds), Tucker Twigg (MS, 116 pounds) and Workman; second-place finishers: Nazelrod (10-U, 80 pounds) and Chiron Wing (MS, 171 pounds); third-place finishers: Greyson Isner (4-U, 50 pounds), Lincoln Nazelrod (8-U, 65 pounds), Leland Jenkins (10-U, 85 pounds) and Aiden Pennington (12-U, 90 pounds); fourth-place finishers: Scott Twigg (12-U, 85 pounds), Zachariah Thompson (12-U, 145 pounds) and Jaxon Arnold (10-U, 85 pounds); and fifth-place finisher: Trevor George (MS, 123 pounds).
