Elkins Middle soccer teams win openers vs. Barbour County

ELKINS — The Elkins Middle School girls soccer team opened their season with a 4-2 win over Barbour County Monday at Riverbend Park.

Layla Fletcher tallied a hat trick to lead the Lady Hornets, while Talia Nucilli added a score.

Addy Cogar had two assists for the winners, while Danica Riggins and Fletcher added helpers.

Rylee Bodkins and Lily Lasky tallied goals for Barbour County.

Lillie Talbott had six saves in goal for the visitors.

Erin Collins had four saves and Addison Carr two for EMS.

The Elkins Middle School boys soccer squad recorded a 4-0 victory against Barbour County on Monday.

It was the season opener for the Hornets.

Isaac Anger, Andrew Tesar, Lincoln Fletcher and Caden Boland accounted for the EMS goals.

Bobby Valentine and Tucker Cutright combined for the shutout in goal.

Both EMS teams were slated to visit Buckhannon-Upshur on Tuesday evening.
