Musselman hands Tigers a road loss
INWOOD — Class AAA, No. 9 Elkins dropped a 49-37 verdict to Musselman on Saturday.
The Tigers, who were held to a season-low point total and coming off a win at home against Tygarts Valley on Friday night, were outscored 27-15 in the second half after the contest was tied 22-22 at the intermission.
Malachi Watson bucketed 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds and was 8 of 8 from the field, while Tanner Miller added 11 points and five assists for Elkins, which was 1 of 7 from the free-throw line.
“Just any ugly game,” Tigers coach Amrit Rayfield said.
Gavin McClain fired in 21 points to lead the Applemen (8-8).
Elkins (11-7) will return to action Thursday at University.
The Tigers remain on the road Saturday at Charleston Catholic, then will finish the regular season with a contest at Brooke on Tuesday.
