3-point shooting propels Cougars past Cameron

CHARLESTON — East Hardy has been known for its 3-pointing shooting throughout the season.

That didn’t change in Class A quarterfinal action Wednesday morning inside the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center as the third-seeded Cougars connected on 50 % of their shots from the arc in handing No. 6 Cameron a 60-50 setback en route to capturing their first-ever state tournament win.

Jordan Teets fired in 26 points for East Hardy, including a 5 of 9 effort from 3-point range.

Evan Hamilton chipped in 16 points and J.W. Teets contributed 10 points.

The Cougars led 26-24 at halftime and 41-30 after three quarters.

Lance Hartley had 11 points to lead the Dragons, who ended the season 20-6.

East Hardy (20-3) advances to face No. 2 Tug Valley at 7:15 p.m. Friday in the semifinals.
