FRANKLIN — Class AA, No. 9 Petersburg held off a second-half push from Pendleton County to claim a 47-43 win over Friday night. The Lady Vikings led 34-20 at halftime but the Lady Wildcats had a 14-8 scoring edge in the third canto to cut the lead to 42-34 entering the final frame. BRIDGEPORT — Fairmont State University and the University of Charleston have been selected as the divisional favorites for the upcoming Mountain East Conference softball season, the league announced Thursday afternoon.
